The Toronto Blues Society is a non profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Blues. Annually they run the Maple Blues Awards, which is Canada’s national blues awards program. Its goal is to promote blues music across Canada, and to recognize outstanding achievement in the field.

The Toronto Blues Society wanted to move the voting for the Maple Blues Awards online to streamline the publication and capture of votes, while also reducing the costs of capturing and compiling votes.

Using a combination of technologies, KMP built the voting engine behind the Maple Blues Awards. Voters first register by providing an email address to identify them and entering a CAPTCHA-based registration code. A password is emailed to them. With the password they can log in to vote. Voting results go directly into a database. At the end of the voting period, the results are compiled and provided to the Chair of the voting committee.

The cost of creating, mailing, receiving and counting ballots is eliminated. The voting results are available in real-time.
