  • Finance
  • Purchasing
  • Inventory Management
  • Sales Quotations
  • Customer Orders
  • Manufacturing
  • Repair and Overhaul
  • Warehouse Management

All modules feature full multi-currency support. The product is customizable so that each installation can be tailored to the exact needs of the customer.

Architecture

Recon is built on Microsoft technologies using a three-tier architecture consisting of a Presentation Layer, Business Object Layer, and Persistence Layer.

Presentation Layer

The Presentation Layer is what the user sees. For the most part, this is the Recon application itself with its menu and collection of many screens and reports. The Presentation Layer communicates directly with the Business Object Layer.

Business Object Layer

This layer contains a vast collection of objects that represent every entity in the business and the business rules that govern each. For example, there is a Customer object that represents an individual customer and contains all of the rules governing a customer. Each object has data that is added, updated and deleted. To facilitate this, the Business Object Layer communicates with the Persistence Layer.

Persistence Layer

This is the layer that is responsible for “persisting” data to the database, which is Microsoft SQL Server. SQL Server is a comprehensive database software platform providing enterprise-class data management and integrated business intelligence (BI) tools.

Features

Contract Life Cycle Management - For companies that bid on Canadian government and military contracts, Recon is built to support the process from solicitation, to contract setup, to order entry of contract releases, and to contract reporting as specified by the Canadian government. Recon’s invoicing module is designed to provide all documentation required by most contracts, including contract number, financial code, release number, and detailed cost breakdowns.

ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance - Recon supports many of the standards recommended by the ISO and continues to evolve in this area.

Registration Programs - In Canada, the Controlled Goods Registration Program (CGRP) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) are examples of programs designed to limit access to certain products and materials. Recon supports the definition of these kinds of programs and the linkage of products, services and customers to these programs so that limitations can be placed on which customers can receive what goods over what period of time.

Repair Programs - Supports the entire repair life cycle from receipt, through work order creation, evaluation, estimation, quotation, repair, quality assurance, shipping and invoicing. Both in-house and subcontractor repairs are supported.

Manufacturing Programs – Supports the definition of multiple hierarchical Bill of Material templates, the creation of manufacturing estimates, and the management of multiple hierarchical manufacturing work orders.

Exchange Programs – Supports “repair–to-stock” for exchange programs where the customer has the option of having a submitted part either repaired and returned or exchanged for a previously repaired item.

Vendor Price Lists – Supports multiple vendor prices lists. The currency and valid date range can be specified for each list. For each item in the list, a cost and a list price may be specified as well as quantity break points. Price lists are integrated into the Customer Quotation, Customer Order, Vendor Inquiry and Vendor Purchase Order modules.

Email and Fax Integration - Quotations, Order Acknowledgements, Invoices, Pricing Inquiries and Purchase Orders can be emailed or faxed directly from within Recon.

Bid Calculations – Within the quotation module, all costs that go into the delivery of a product or service are captured, regardless of currency. Various markup percentages may be entered (profit markup, G&A markup, profit on G&A markup) to derive a selling price, or a selling price may also be calculated based on an entered margin percentage. Finally, the bid calculation can be summarized in printed or electronic form. The PWGSC Price Analysis format (PWGSC-TPSGC 1116(1/97)) is supported for full disclosure of costs.
